For installing custom ROMS, your PC must have all the required drivers and your phone’s bootloader must be unlocked. If you don’t know how to unlock the bootloader, you can check this post. Once your bootloader is unlocked, follow the steps given.
Make sure USB Debugging is enabled. After installing the drivers, connect your phone to the PC using a cable. You will see a popup. Grant permission for that popup. Open the Platform tools folder and execute CMD/Windows Powershell in that directory. Execute this command adb devices to check connected adb devices on the PC. If your phone is visible, you can proceed to the next step. If not, you need to download the drivers again.
- Now execute this command: adb reboot bootloader to boot your phone into the fastboot.
- You can directly boot your phone into fastboot mode by holding Volume UP + Volume Down + Power Key till the OnePlus logo appears.
- Once you are in fastboot mode, execute this command: fastboot flash recovery <recovery_filename>.img to flash the Pixel Experience Recovery image. (This will replace the OnePlus recovery.)
- Once the recovery is flashed, boot into it. In fastboot mode, select “Recovery” using the volume up/down buttons.
- In recovery, go to Factory Reset and then tap on Format Data/Factory Reset to format your phone. (You must make a full backup of your phone or you will lose everything.)
- Now return to the main menu and tap on Apply Update and then Apply From ADB to sideload.
- Execute this command: adb sideload filename.zip to flash the Pixel Experience ROM.
- Once the flashing finishes, tap on Reboot Now to reboot your phone. Your device will end up booting into the Pixel Experience ROM. (It usually takes 10-15 minutes to boot the first time)
